Balgavies Loch, Forfar - Scottish Wildlife Trust -- OS Grid ref: NO523516 -- Balgavies Loch is one of a series of wetlands in the Upper Lunan Valley. Reedbeds fringe the loch and to the west there is extensive fen. On the higher ground, there is one of the few remaining oak woodlands in Angus. These habitats support a diverse range of wildlife from water beetles to wild geese.
Further information: Access to this reserve is usually by prior arrangement, however there is a hide which is open at weekends.

Montrose Basin -- Costs £3.50 to get in but there is always someone there to help. There are also three hides in the area of the Basin (check out the map outside the visitors centre), there is one at the bottom of the car park, and two others at the old pier/lurgies side (off towards Forfar). While you're out there take a walk to the Lurgies. There is a small car park and it can be quite hard to find but can also be seriously worth it for glorious close ups of some common and scarce sites. ( Thanks to Gerry )
Loch of Lintrathen -- There are two hides here, one new and to the north of Bridgend of Lintrathen and the really old and scary hide on the west of the loch. ( Thanks to Gerry )
