Sounds like a Wood Sand. Supercilium goes from front of eye to behind eye unlike the Green Sand where the supercilium is very faint behind eye. Also barring on the tail is narrower than the Green Sand. The spots on the back are larger and browner than the Green so I would say you saw a wood Sandpiper. Like all Waders at this time of year they are passing through enroute to there breeding grounds in the Artic, so a very good one to get well done Eagle. regards Macrude.

macrude thanks for info, was fairly sure it was a sandpiper of sorts , but like you the supercilium was very prominant both befoer and to the rear of the eye which in my mind along with the yellowish green longish legs gace it away, as a wood sandpiper.

a first for me so many thanks for your help
