Subject: Little Terns at Montrose
Was up in Montrose for a few hours dropping a fathers day card into the father in law, left the partner and went along the shore for a few hours.

There is a small colony of Little Terns being watched by a small dedicated team, the birds have went from strength to strength over the last 3 years that i have been observing them.

The area of beach that these are on is a public beach however the area concerned has been cordened off and as such please respect it if visiting.

These birds are Beautiful and make a change to the more usually seen artic terns. Also seen were the more usual culprits, Ringed Plovers, Oystercatchers , Artic Terns, Common Tern, Black Backed Gullls, Herring Gull, Black headed Gulls etc etc.

I make this trip every year purely to observe the Little Terns.

Please when visiting say Hello to Hugh and his team who maintain a 24 hr watch ensuring the future population of Little Terns on the Montrose beach is sustained and growing.

Would definately recommend having a look at these lovely terns, I have been once (last year) with my friend who stays in Crail. We got great views of the birds and he introduced me to Hugh who is a great character and very dedicated

cheers, John
