Santa hasn't been to our house yet. Mrs Bobmcc has been very I'll, so Christmas consisted of daily trips to ninewells hosp. Her vision is now out of danger so the concern is abating.
We had 6 fieldfare in the garden yesterday and more than a dozen Goldfinch this morning. 5 whoopers flew over earlier. Ten partridge in the field behind.
Looking forward to the thaw.

Re the photograph - I don't have the equipment for wildlife photography. (I've seen how obsessive it makes you guys :-)

I managed some good shots of a male blackcap in b/island last year.
mid dec. I was running about d/line east trying to get some shots of fieldfares & redwings, come the snow I have the first fieldfares and cock bullfinch in the back garden.
yesterday the first pr. of siskins returned to join resident goldies/greenfinches & chaffinches.
I would post photos but being a dinasaur I do'nt know how to reduce them.

Baraband - and anyone else who is interested.
There is a website -
http://www.irfanview.com/
That has a cracking piece of free software for reducing pictures and doing minor touch ups.
Once downloaded and installed, simply drag your picture onto the icon and then select from the Menu the resize option.
Play about with it, i have been using it for about 3 years now and will offer anyone who wants help with it the help they need where i can.
No excuses for pictures not being uploaded now :mryellow:

5 female blackcaps in the garden this morning...what a new year treat. Also a solitary thrush, not sure which type, sitting in the tree, fluffed up against the cold.....what shall I put out for it to eat? wont be interested in seeds will it?

ref feeding thrush try some christmas cake seem to like such here in dunfermline
or any sof fruit raisins etc, cheese grated brown bread . i would think with the harsh weather we have been having the birds will have a go at most things put out for them, another important thing is water as all outside sources of water will be frozen over

She's not alone. Male Blackcap spotted at my birdtable today. Perhaps they'll pair up?
