Re: Birnie Gaddon Lochs Visit June/July
MIke i normally do birnie gadden about mid day most mondays , there is a period when ground nesting birds are protected by access to gadden being denied. wardens put up gates to keep people out so june could be a no no for gadden , you will still manage birnie.
there are a few other places in the locality
angle park come out birnie car park turn left travel a mile or so and turn left at war memorial to angle park, along road for about half mile or so , parking places on right park at last one and cross road narrow cap in fence allows you acces to angle park..
rossie bg
from birnie again turn left to war memorial turn righttravel about 2/3 miles .road takes a sharp right turn follow road to right and you should find places to park at road side and be able to look out over bog. you can continue on th gate way on right sign posted game keepers cottage.. park on verge and you can enter the gat for no more than about 10/20 yards but able to look out onto bog
there is also a quarry of the dundee road north of the melville roundabout, about a mile there is a gate into a working quarry , you can go in an at about 50 yards park on left at bridge. cross road and you can walk into old gravel pit. i have never had any trouble there
guardbridge there is a council run hide at guardbridge, go into guardbridge from and take the road to leuchars and just before the paper mill onthe right there is a small park with parking areas and walk into hide about 100yards. would suggest you check tide times, best times is a couple of hours before and after high tide
