Hi All

I'm just thinking about being more organised this year, and planning a couple of day trips/overnight stays to places where I'll be most likely see particular birds and at which time of year.

Macrude has already left a tip on the general/cuckoo??? thread that there is a good chance of spotting more than one cuckoo on the B827 road to Langside Comrie, but I also fancy seeing corncrakes and black grouse this year. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I don't drive so will be travelling on buses/trains/cycling.

For Corncrakes I'd recommend Iona. Get off the ferry and take the road on the left, I have photographed them in the field beyond the firestation in June. I have also seen one almost run over by a taxi on this stretch of road!!!

Will do. There actually seems to be quite a few places you can go to view black grouse. I'm thinking about this one (see link)
