Post Baron's Haugh RSPB Reserve

Baron's Haugh is situated at south side of Motherwell Location map. It has 4 hides situated around the haugh and are superb for observing waterbirds, the marsh and causeway hides are second to knone in the Clyde area for seeing the elusive Water Rail, especially when there is exposed mud.
More information can be found on Jimmy Maxwells site Enter site.
I visit fairly regularly and will post sightings here

cheers, John

Baron's Haugh is a fantasic site with many different habitats and a good record of trurning up some interesting bird species. Probably the best place in the land to stand a good chance of seeing (and photographing) Water Rail. Kingfisher are also relatively obliging. Great White Egret and Marsh Harrier have been recent visitors and I have been lucky enough to photograph Otter on the river.
