Below are are list of Hides that i am aware of, if you know of others please let us know
Balgavies Loch, Forfar - Scottish Wildlife Trust -- OS Grid ref: NO523516 -- Balgavies Loch is one of a series of wetlands in the Upper Lunan Valley. Reedbeds fringe the loch and to the west there is extensive fen. On the higher ground, there is one of the few remaining oak woodlands in Angus. These habitats support a diverse range of wildlife from water beetles to wild geese.
Further information: Access to this reserve is usually by prior arrangement, however there is a hide which is open at weekends.
More Details available from: Rab Potter - Email: - Tel: 01382 205558
Loch of Kinnordy -- OS Grid ref: NO361539 -- Loch of Kinnordy is a shallow loch surrounded by farmland - well worth a visit at any time of year. Ospreys are regular visitors during the spring and summer months and there is a colony of black-headed gulls. In winter, the reserve provides safe refuge for swans and geese.
Opening hours: The reserve is open daily from dawn to dusk
Admission cost: Free, with £1 parking charge for non-RSPB members.

Montrose Basin -- Costs £3.50 to get in but there is always someone there to help. There are also three hides in the area of the Basin (check out the map outside the visitors centre), there is one at the bottom of the car park, and two others at the old pier/lurgies side (off towards Forfar). While you're out there take a walk to the Lurgies. There is a small car park and it can be quite hard to find but can also be seriously worth it for glorious close ups of some common and scarce sites. ( Thanks to Gerry )
Loch of Lintrathen -- There are two hides here, one new and to the north of Bridgend of Lintrathen and the really old and scary hide on the west of the loch. ( Thanks to Gerry )

Hey Andy,
Hope this finds you and all well.
In Angus don't forget the Montrose Basin. It now costs £3.50 to get in but there is always someone there to help. There are also three hides in the area of the Basin (check out the map outside the visitors centre). there is one at the bottom of the car park, and two others at the old pier/lurgies side (off towards Forfar). While you're out there take a walk to the Lurgies. There is a small car park and it can be quite hard to find but can also be seriously worth it for glorious close ups of some common and scarce sites.
Also there is a tremendous hide at Lunan Bay. It can be tricky to get to but just ask at the Basin and someone will help.
If you're out at Kinnordy, havea wonderful time, and also keep driving to Loch of Lintrathen. There are two hides here, one new and to the north of Bridgend of Lintrathen and the really old and scary hide on the west of the loch.
If you head out to Balgavies make sure you come from the A932, as there is a lovely little car park beside the hide. Make sure you walk round as well there is a really great path that was put there a few years ago and goes right round the loch.
There are lots of other great places in angus but no hides, like Seaton Den, The cliff walk at Arbroath, Brouhty Ferry Harbour, Auchmithie, Barry Buddon and Usan. Each are outstanding especially in the winter.
If in the area keep an eye out for eagles. I saw one of the green tagged youngsters in a field just south of Montrose on Monday!
Peace
Gerry

Thanks for that Gerry, have added briefly what you have mentioned, will dig out some more info when i get a minute.
Would be great to get as many hide locations in all regions.
I am in the process of installing a WIKI into the site where i intend to put a lot of info in about hides, places good for birdwatching etc. Also User guides to butteflies, moths, dragon flies , birds etc. I hope to use members pictures where ever possible and if any member would like to help or contribute to some of the text by all means drop me a mail.
Glad to see you back in here Gerry, been a while since i have heard from ya.
